Columns
Paint-ready decorative columns built over a Sonotube concrete-form tube, with a wire/stretch-wrap/tape/paper shell.
Layer stack
From the form outward:
- Sonotube — the round cardboard concrete-form tube, used as the reusable mold/core.
- Wire — 1/2” hardware cloth wrapped around the tube, closed with hog rings, for rigidity and texture.
- Stretch wrap — heavy-duty shrink/stretch film over the wire, smooths the surface and acts as a release layer.
- Carpet tape — double-sided tape over the stretch wrap, gives the paper layer something to grip.
- Paper — kraft butcher paper pressed onto the tape, forms the paintable outer shell.
- Paint — tempera paint applied last with the paint brushes.

Open questions
- Sonotube size/qty and column height aren’t in the order history — not purchased through these Amazon orders. Confirm diameter/length before cutting wire and paper to size.
- Whether the paper shell gets slid off the sonotube (reusable form, hollow column) or the sonotube stays inside as a permanent core isn’t specified yet; the assembly instructions cover the removable-shell approach since stretch wrap is normally used as a release layer, but flag it if you want a permanent core instead.
